Program review and Curriculum development and Instructional Design

  •  Does your teacher education program reflect new research including High Leverage Practices in education and special education?
  •  Are your courses comparable across all learning formats (face to face, hybrid and online)?
  •   Do your courses require students demonstrate mastery using tasks and assignments requiring higher order thinking skills?
  • Are your courses staying current with recent research and incorporating Universal Design for Learning components?

Your faculty is already overwhelmed. (We know, we’ve been there). Allow us to work with your faculty to refresh or completely redesign your courses.

Our consultants have designed programs and courses for both face to face and online programs. Programs will be designed to meet specific content standards for your state as well as professional standards and will reflect your university’s unique nature.  Additional services include assessment design, correlation of courses and assessments with standards.

Accreditation

Our consultants can work with your faculty to review your assessments and rubrics to ensure they meet CAEP and SPA guidelines.  We have designed assessments and rubrics for a variety of teacher preparation programs in Special Education, Elementary Education and at the undergraduate and post baccalaureate levels. Our consultants have experience reviewing teacher education programs for both CAEP and Specialized Professional Associations (SPA) and can provide you with strategies to showcase the great things your candidates are doing. Additional services include CAEP or SPA report writing or review. Don’t stress over self-study or program reports. Give us a call.

Program Assessment and Assessment Development

  • Does your team understand the CAEP and SPA guidelines and standards?
  • Do your Educator Preparation Program’s key assessments document your candidates’ abilities across the range of licensure?
  • Do the assessments in your Educator Preparation Program capture what your teacher candidates know and are able to do?
  • Do your program assessments meet SPA and CAEP guidelines?
  • Is your Data System collecting the information you need?

Faculty Development:

Does your faculty understand the androgogy (the method and practice of teaching adult learners) and best practice principles needed to revise your curriculum? Do they feel supported to transform your online courses? Do your adjuncts understand the purpose and importance of strategies used in your courses?

Content specialists are experts at their content, but may not be familiar with the importance of using Universal Design for Learning, Backward design principles, standard and course learning outcomes alignment, principles of assessment and how to plan for interaction in planning their online courses. Let our consultants provide training for your faculty to understand how to meaningfully incorporate these into your courses, whether in on-line or traditional formats.

Training schedules and outcomes are specific to your institution’s needs whether you require short term training or on-going support for one site or multiple sites. Let’s discuss what your faculty needs are.

Services include:

  • Faculty needs assessment
  • Professional development (either full faculty or individual departments)
    • Standard and course learning outcomes alignment
    • Assessment design and alignment
    • Universal Design for Learning principles
    • Backwards Design principles

    • and other topics as needed by your faculty
